Lorrin Golf Junior Academy provides Juniors with a unique opportunity to simulate a tournament week of a Tour golfer.
From the start, each Junior will receive a personalised Lorrin Golf Academy card, to be used at the St Andrews Practice Centre for practice golf balls, and also for lunch vouchers daily.
The first 4 academy days consist of practice, tuition and play on challenging courses in St Andrews, to get juniors ready for a 2-day Tournament taking place in the second part of the week.
Each Junior will be allocated a dedicated Long Game Coach, and a Short Game Coach for individual tuition.
In addition, our base at St Leonards School includes a work area for juniors to prepare for their next game, and also to review video golf instruction received via a personalised web-zone on LorrinLevels.com.
The second part of the Academy week consists of a 2-day Tournament, with scoring by day, and in aggregate over 2 days. Included within the Tournament is valuable on-course professional instruction and access to practice facilities at St Andrews Links Practice Centre before and after Tournament play.
With Tournament play on three premier courses on the St Andrews Links and Fairmont St Andrews, the Junior Academy tournament offers a great challenge to inspire and motivate juniors throughout their week in St Andrews.
Juniors will have an opportunity to review Tournament play with the Long Game and Short Game coaches. A 2-Day Tournament also provides Juniors with the chance to gain a valuable insight into the demands placed on Tournament Professionals every week.
Par: 73
Length: 7049 yards
Course designer: Bruce Devlin
Bruce Devlin's experience and expertise have provided Kittocks with its innovative and exciting character. It is a truly magnificent 72 par, 7,049 yard championship course that sweeps its way along the rugged seaside landscape. This as yet undiscovered gem begins by innocently easing the golfer into a false sense of security, offering wide, well manicured fairways that wind around man-made water features and risky bunkers, teasing the golfer with a mix of par fours and fives.
The excitement continues to mount as the homeward stretch lies ahead, all the while heading to the par 4, signature 17th. After a solid drive this 'dog leg' leaves a precarious second shot towards the cliff edge green which is heavily guarded by slopes and strategically placed bunkers. A final surprise awaits with a par 3 18th, where the golfer must complete the round with a skilful shot to secure par.
Par: 72
Length: 6435m
Course designer: Gene Sarazen
The Fairmont Torrance Course is a dramatic creation from the late Gene Sarazen and named after Ryder Cup Captain Sam Torrance. The gorse-lined fairways roll with the natural contours of the land along its striking clifftop setting with glorious views of St Andrews and beyond to the Grampian Mountains.
Features of the course are typically Scottish, with stone walls, deep bunkers and streams dotted about around the 18 holes. The exposed setting calls for some skilful shotmaking in the wind and bump and runs to the large, true greens are often the order of the day.
The signature hole is the 17th where the cliffs drop off dramatically all the way down the right of its 444 yards.
Par: 71
Length: 6394 yards
Course designer: Old Tom Morris/James Braid
Not the longest course, but big numbers can be made on all of Lundin Links' holes. It is advisable to buy a yardage book from the pro shop before setting off as many a blind tee shot has found the hidden “burns” (streams) which run across some fairways. A very enjoyable test of golf on the Fife Coast.
Length: 6176m
Course designer: Old Tom Morris
Venue: British Open Qualifying
Ladybank is a heathland course of outstanding quality set amongst pine trees and silver birch of a peaceful Fife countryside.
The course is a test of accuracy, with rewards for lonegth on reachable par-5's. Heather and gorse await for wayward tee-shots, which tests even the strongest of recovery players.
"A truly professional approach to the amateur game"
Kevin Craggs, PGA Professional
