Our base for Lorrin Golf St Andrews Academy is the impressive Fairmont St Andrews with daily breakfast and evening dinner at Kittocks Den restaurant on Saturday evening.

The Fairmont St Andrews is a premier golfing resort overlooking the old town of St Andrews Bay. The Resort features a five-star hotel and two championship golf courses - one designed by Sam Torrance which has recently reopened following redesign and hosts the Open Qualifiers in 2010.

The hotel opened in 2001, and recently hosted a Northern Ireland peace talks including Tony Blair and Ireland Prime Minister Berti Ahern. It includes 209 bedrooms, as well as two four-bedroom manor properties on the grounds.

The Fairmont has completed in 2009 a £17m refurbishment programme of guestrooms, public area and Spa. Guestrooms now feature warm earthy tones with distinctly Scottish touches. The Spa now features 11 treatment rooms and a salon. The hotel now also boasts a Sports Bar – Rock & Spindle complete with pool table and dart board!

Lorrin Golf Academy provides avid Golfers with a fantastic weekend programme of instruction form a dedicated team of teaching professionals:

1. Tuition & Practice

The Lorrin Golf Academy combines intensive tuition & supervised practice at the St Andrews Links Practice centre a 32 bay state of the art facility at the Home of Golf.

Each Golfer at is allocated a dedicated Long Game Coach, and a dedicated Short Game Coach for individual and group tuition, with 4 professionals taking a maximum group size of just 16 players.

2. Play at St Andrews

With Instruction on Saturday & Sunday mornings, Golfers can enjoy 18 holes on Saturday afternoon the impressive Fairmont St Andrews Torrance Course which also hosts final Qualifying for the 2010 British Open.

The Torrance Course provides an ideal chance to work on instruction tips picked up on the range and short game areas, and also is played in Tournament format for added fun and interest with your international group of playing partners at Lorrin Golf Academy.

3. Review

Golfers will have an opportunity to review Tournament play with the Long Game and Short Game coaches on Sunday morning.

Following your Academy, video lessons received in St Andrews will be made available on your own web-profile at Lorrin Levels.com, complete with commentary and take-home tips.

The Fairmont Torrance Course is a dramatic creation from the late Gene Sarazen and named after Ryder Cup Captain Sam Torrance. The gorse-lined fairways roll with the natural contours of the land along its striking clifftop setting with glorious views of St Andrews and beyond to the Grampian Mountains.

Features of the course are typically Scottish, with stone walls, deep bunkers and streams dotted about around the 18 holes. The exposed setting calls for some skilful shotmaking in the wind and bump and runs to the large, true greens are often the order of the day.

The signature hole is the 17th where the cliffs drop off dramatically all the way down the right of its 444 yards.
